SMARTPlant(TM) provides real time product traceability from casting through machining and throughout the assembly process. We directly mark the part with a permanent sequence number then read this number at successive operations prompting quality checks when and where required. Each marked part which is added to the product during assembly has it's sequence number "married" to the product sequence number at the moment of installation or replacement. Reading may be performed through RFID tags/escort memory or by 2D "Data Matrix" readers or any combination of these.

Unique to SMARTPlant(TM), the operators are provided with screens which show real time product and material flow throughout the entire plant so that the can see and prevent disruptions to this flow. These operator screens offer various, moving, real time "views" of the production process:

• Quality View where Good parts are Green and Suspect parts are Red
• Variety View where the product icons are color coded by model
• Material View which shows the correct sequence for part delivery to each station based on what is actually happening, in real time, on the plant floor
